Bayer and Schering Integrated in Scandinavia
On April 1 Bayer and Schering have been legally combined in Scandinavia. This leads to the formation of a new pharmaceutical organization within Bayer HealthCare. The division carries the name Bayer Schering Pharma and is the largest division within Bayer HealthCare.
"The combination of Bayer and Schering will strengthen our position in Denmark, Sweden, Norway
and Iceland," said Mattias Norrman, Country Divisional Head for Bayer Schering Pharma in
Scandinavia. "With our portfolio of innovative products such as the cancer drug Nexavar and
Betaferon against multiple sclerosis, we are committed to providing the highest level of service to
our customers."

Bayer Schering Pharma is headquartered in Berlin, Germany. The Scandinavian headquarters of
the division will be placed in Stockholm. In 2006 the total sales of the combined businesses
amounted in more than 7 billion euros. The businesses invested a total of 1.4 billion euros in
research and development in 2006. Bayer Schering Pharma is among the top ten specialty
pharmaceutical companies worldwide. Today the company is already the world market leader in
hormonal contraception, and has leading positions in the fields of multiple sclerosis, hematology
and cardiology, as well as in oncology and diagnostic imaging.
